Temporary fencing in Hampton Roads
Chain link for the job site, the event, the vacant lot, or the yard that lost its fence in a storm. Set when you need it and taken down when you don't, in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. Priced by the foot, in writing.
When temporary is the right fence
A permanent fence is the wrong spend when the need has an end date. These are the calls we get.
Perimeter chain link around a build, a renovation, or a lot under grading, so the site is closed off from the street for the length of the job.
Crowd lines, vendor areas, and parking cut-offs for a weekend or a season. Set the day before, gone the day after.
The fence is down, the dog needs a yard, and the insurance claim takes weeks. A temporary line holds the yard until the rebuild.
A pool under repair still needs a barrier. A vacant lot or a property in transition needs the street side closed until it is sold or built.
Two ways to set it
Posts driven into the ground with fabric stretched between them. The stronger line for anything that stands more than a few weeks, and the one we use on soil, grass, and gravel.
Free-standing chain link panels on weighted bases for asphalt, concrete, and anywhere a post cannot go in the ground. Moved in minutes when the work moves.
A swing or walk-through opening for crews and deliveries, and windscreen or privacy slats where the site should not be seen from the street.
Prices
Temporary fence is priced by the foot for the run, with the set and the take-down in one written number. Tell us the footage and how long it stands, and the price comes back before we set a post. If the line turns out to be a keeper, permanent commercial chain link runs $21.99 to $27.99 per foot installed at 6 feet.
Rules
Virginia Beach requires a zoning permit for any fence within 30 feet of a public right-of-way. Norfolk and Chesapeake draw their own lines. Before we set a temporary fence on the street side of a lot, we check which rule applies and tell you. The city pages carry the details.
How it goes
Free. We walk the footage, note what has to pass through it, and check the surface for posts or stands.
Footage, gates, screening, and the take-down in one number, in writing.
Set on the date you need it. When the job is done, one call and the line is gone and the ground is cleaned up.
For the permanent line
Commercial chain link, aluminum, and the gates and access control that go with them are on the commercial fencing page, priced within 24 hours.

Yes. Panels on weighted stands sit on asphalt and concrete without a hole, and move when the work moves.
A fence within 30 feet of a public right-of-way needs the city's zoning permit; deeper on an interior lot, none. We check the rule for your lot and tell you which applies before we set it.
